On March 15 and 17, the Alpharetta Rotary Club threw a party at Skylark!
What a party! Complete with a DJ, Skylark members danced for close to an hour with each other and their new Rotarian friends. The DJ spun tunes from the 50s, 60s, and the 70s with a lot of Motown, Elvis, the Beatles, and so much more.
As is often the case, our dancers are not always the ones you think they will be. For others, they hadn’t danced in years. Then the music of their youth powered through the speakers, and their dance shoes turned on. Others danced in the seats with a friend or by themselves ensconced in the joy of the music.
Our members had special St. Paddy’s cookies and drinks. Then, they were back to the dance floor cutting a rug with other members and their newfound friends from the Alpharetta Rotary.
At the end of the day, every Member went home with a care package courtesy of the Alpharetta Rotarians. They have started CareHero. It’s a new initiative celebrating care partners engaging in the heroic effort of caring for a loved one living with dementia. It’s a wonderful gift box with books, journals, and other resources to recognize the effort and passion of these caregivers.
At Skylark we are so very thankful for the opportunity to partner with the Alpharetta Rotary and for our Members and Associates to be the beneficiaries of their generosity.

Many of our members have reached out to share their thanks and reactions:
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for our Care Hero box, and for recognizing the daily sacrifices that we are making to take care of my mom, who has Alzheimer’s. I sit here in tears as I write this note. I cannot even begin to tell you how deeply touched we are by your recognition, love and kindness. I have been helping to care for my mom for years, but three years ago we moved in with my parents to help my dad take care of my mom. Sadly, my dad unexpectedly passed away almost a year and a half ago from cancer. My husband and I went from helping him care for her, to caring for her and taking care of him as we did in home hospice, to then grieving our loss and adjusting to caring for my mom by ourselves.
With our deepest gratitude, Cheryl and Rusty XXXXXXX
Hi Teams: Alpharetta Rotary and Care-Hero, We wanted to thank you for the very considerate and generous gifts we received at Skylark Johns Creek last Friday. The books are very helpful in terms of information and guidance. It is good to know we are not alone in this journey. The team at Skylark has been essential in caring for our Mom (Mattie) as well. We appreciate deeply value everyone’s efforts.

Good Morning, I wanted to thank the kind folks of the Alpharetta Rotary Club for their generous donation of my CareHero Box. I was happily surprised yesterday when I picked up my wife at Skylark Day Club on Interstate N Parkway. I am really excited about the 36hour Day book. It will be so nice to have it at my fingertips when I need some guidance to help with my wife. Also, I am looking forward to using the American Express Cards for something fun. Probably a couple rounds of golf. Please forward my gratitude and thanks to the appropriate people.
Sincerely, Mike XXXXXXX
Good Evening, I received a Care-Hero box from your organization via Skylark- John’s Creek location. I was brought to tears as I felt honored to be recognized by someone who doesn’t even know me. You all realize what caregiving entails and decided to honor the time and sacrifices made. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. I will use every single item. Continue blessing families as we care for our loved ones.

Hi, Thank you so much for the care package that I received from you at Skylark Senior Care, where my wife, Lisa is attending. She is only 53 years old, and we have been blessed to be married for 23 years, and counting. It is so nice to know that someone cares enough and understands the journey that my two sons and I are currently traveling through with her. These are extremely trying times and it warms and comforts me that you were so thoughtful to give this wonderful care package and let us know that we are “not alone”. Again, thank you so much, it really means a lot!!! God Bless….
Have A Great Day!! Van XXXXXX

Hello! I was so thrilled to have received the gift box today from Joseph at Skylark in John’s Creek. My mother has been living with me full time for three years now and it has taken a real adjustment to get to a healthy place for me. I truly appreciate the Alpharetta Rotary Club for recognizing the efforts of caregivers. Everything included in the box was very much needed and the gift cards were a true luxury I will be sure to enjoy. Thank you so much!
